These days, the search engines scan the contents of a site. The meta tags have had their day in the sun and are virtually ignored .
Content is still King
The more content you have on your site the more the search engines can scan – but there is more to it then that – people like content too. Many people measure your site’s success by the number of visitors it gets – so ask yourself – why would people come to my site? Do I offer them interesting and informative information? Do I clearly state my product or service?
Relevant content and lots of it is a key to success. There’s always room for more content on a web site, and you can never have too much.
Take this article for example, while it’s fairly useful information for my visitors, it’s also additional content for this web site – writing articles about aspects of your industry is a great way to generate content.
Set aside at least an hour every week to add new content to your web site.
Having lots of content is great – but if it’s a year old it’s not going to look too good. The search engines monitor how frequently your site changes as they visit it for indexing. The more often it changes the better your rank in the freshness category.
What constitutes change? Pretty much anything – which is why keeping a BLOG produces such good results.
